CHATTOGRAM, May 11, 2026 (BSS) – Members of the Coast Guard seized approximately 4,000 liters of diesel being smuggled from a ship in the Karnaphuli River in Chattogram.
During the operation, 9 members of the smuggling gang were arrested, according to a press release issued today.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan stated that on Saturday night around 10 pm, the Coast Guard Base Chattogram conducted a special operation in the Karnaphuli River adjacent to the Diamond Cement Factory in the Dangarchar area of Karnaphuli Police Station.
During the operation, 4,000 liters of diesel worth approximately Tk 4 lakh were seized while being smuggled from the Chattogram Port Authority's 'Kandari-6' ship to an oil tanker named 'OT Aju Shah'. Nine smugglers were arrested at the scene, and the seized diesel was handed over to the Chattogram Port Authority.
