DHAKA, May 8, 2026 (BSS) - Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir today inaugurated a new police outpost (fari) building at Khilkhet area in the city.
Speaking on the occasion, the IGP said that establishment of a new police outpost in the area adjacent to the 300-foot expressway is a timely and important initiative. "Through this, it will be possible to deliver quick and effective services to the doorsteps of people. And proactive policing activities will be further strengthened," he added.
He said that Dhaka city has been expanded centering Purbachal New Town and the 300-foot expressway, adding, "It has become urgent to maintain law and order and ensure prompt police services at Barua, Dumni, Patira, Talna and surrounding areas under jurisdiction of Khilkhet Police Station."
The need for round-the-clock police presence has increased to prevent various crimes including land disputes, drugs and robbery in the area, he said.
He reiterated the commitment of police to build a modern, people-friendly and technology-based policing system and sought cooperation of people and media in building a safe society.
Acting commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md Sarwar, DMP officials, local dignitaries and journalists were present at the event.
