JASHORE, May 08, 2026 (BSS)- State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit has said the government is going to introduce crop insurance for farmers across the country.
“Crop insurance will recover the crop damage due to natural disasters,” he said while inaugurating Boro procurement here today, jointly organized by the district administration and food department.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Ashek Hasan was in the chair while senior officials of the district administration and local BNP leaders were present.
Food controller Sefaur Rahman said the target of paddy procurement in the district has been set at 15,166 metric tons at Taka 36 per kg.
The state minister said the present government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is a farmer-friendly government.
After assuming the office, the government has started implementing its election manifesto by issuing farmer cards. Farmers will be able to buy all kinds of agricultural inputs at government subsidized prices and also take loan at low interest rate with the card, he said.
Amit mentioned that the government has already waived agricultural loan up to Taka 10,000. Despite the global crisis, the government's tireless efforts ensured supply of electricity, diesel and fertilizers to farmers, which resulted in bumper crop production, he said.
The state minister warned all concerned not to commit any irregularity in rice procurement from farmers.
Later, he planted a sapling there.
