CHATTOGRAM, May 8, 2026 (BSS) - Chattogram City BNP has chalked out different programmes to observe 45th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.
The programmes include placing floral wreath, prayers, and Milad Mahfil at his first burial ground in Rangunia on May 30. An inter-school Gold Cup football tournament will also be organized on the day.
The announcement was made during a meeting at the party office in Nasimon Bhaban in the city on Thursday evening.
City BNP Member Secretary Nazimur Rahman presided over the meeting.
He said President Ziaur Rahman is a symbol of Bangladesh's independence, sovereignty, and multi-party democracy.
Ziaur Rahman's declaration of independence from the Kalurghat radio station in Chattogram is a glorious chapter in the historic of the country’s Liberation War.
Ziaur Rahman has re-establishing multi-party democracy and freedom of the press in Bangladesh as well as ensuring country’s economic development. His ideals and patriotism is as an inspiration for the new generation.
The meeting was attended by Metropolitan BNP joint convener Kazi Belal Uddin, Shafiqur Rahman Swapan, Harun Zaman, Niaz Mohammad Khan, Md. Shah Alam, Shawkat Azam Khawaja, Yasin Chowdhury Liton, Ahmedul Alam Chowdhury (Russell), Shihab Uddin Mubin, and leaders from various levels of the party.
