DMP files 1,723 cases for traffic rule violations in Dhaka

DHAKA, May 7, 2026 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed 1,723 cases against traffic rule violators during drives conducted in different areas of the capital on Wednesday.

According to a DMP press release, the highest number of cases was recorded in the Mirpur Traffic Division with 437 cases, followed by Uttara with 265 and Motijheel with 238 cases.

The drives targeted buses, trucks, covered vans, CNG-run auto-rickshaws and motorcycles involved in traffic violations.

During the operations, authorities also dumped 473 vehicles and towed away 215 others using wreckers.

The DMP said its traffic enforcement drives will continue to maintain discipline on the roads of Dhaka.
