DHAKA, May 07, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today ordered the seizure of the tax files of multilevel marketing company (MLM) UniPay2U Managing Director (MD) MA Taher in connection with graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order allowing the petition of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

According to the petition, Taher purchased two flats in the capital's Gulshan and Banani areas in his wife's name for Taka 20 lakh each, although no valid source of income or income tax records were found in her name.

It said Taher, as the MD of UniPay2U Bangladesh Limited, allegedly lured people into investing in so-called gold purchases under the guise of an MLM business by promising unusually high profits.

The ACC's preliminary inquiry found that Taher accumulated assets worth Taka 40 lakh using money collected fraudulently in the company's name, which was inconsistent with his legitimate income.

The petition further said that the seizure of Taher's income tax records, from the opening of his tax file to the 2024-25 tax year, is essential for a fair investigation and for determining his income, expenditure and savings.
