DHAKA, May 06, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today ordered the seizure of tax files of former chief whip and Madaripur-1 lawmaker Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury over graft allegations.
 
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
 
The plea of the anti-graft body said the former chief whip amassed illegal wealth of Taka 57.49 crore and kept those under his possession. He also made suspicious transactions of Taka 232.11 crore through eight bank accounts. 
 
"The ACC filed the case in this connection on March 25, 2026. For the sake of proper investigation, it is essential to seize his tax files till 2024-25 fiscal," the plea added.
