RAJSHAHI, Sept 8, 2026 (BSS) - Divisional Commissioner Yusuf Ali today said there is no fertilizer crisis in Rajshahi as government warehouses have sufficient stocks of urea and non-urea fertilizers to meet farmers' demand.

He urged farmers not to worry, saying the quantity of fertilizer currently stored in government warehouses is several times higher than the district's monthly requirement.

The divisional commissioner said this talking to journalists after inspecting the fertilizer warehouse of Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) in Naodapara area of the city to assess the stock situation ahead of the upcoming Aman and Boro seasons.

Yusuf Ali said the allocation of TSP fertilizer for the current month is 1,045 metric tonnes, while around 6,300 metric tonnes are currently in stock at the warehouse.

Similarly, against the monthly allocation of 5,700 metric tonnes of urea for the district, around 10,000 metric tonnes are available in just one warehouse, he said.

"There is no crisis of fertilizer. There is sufficient fertilizer in the warehouses," the divisional commissioner said.

He said fertilizers are being supplied regularly to dealers in accordance with the allocation made by the Ministry of Agriculture and the dealers are selling the fertilizers through their outlets.

Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Rajshahi, Mostafa Kamal Hossain, was present during the inspection.

He said the BCIC buffer warehouse currently has 9,804 tonnes of urea, 430 tonnes of TSP and 85.5 tonnes of DAP fertilizer in stock.

Besides, the BADC warehouse has 6,312 tonnes of TSP, 801 tonnes of MOP and 4,348 tonnes of DAP fertilizer in stock.
