DHAKA, May 5, 2026 (BSS)- The Supreme Court (SC) has provided legal services to 30,474 people at government expense through its Legal Aid program.
This information was disclosed in a report published on the website of the National Legal Aid Services Organization.
The report provides detailed information on the overall activities of the Legal Aid program from 2009 to March 2026.
According to the report, the Supreme Court Legal Aid office was officially inaugurated on September 8, 2015. Since then, until March 2026, a total of 30,474 people have received services through this office. Among them, 11,649 are men, 18,818 are women, and 7 are children.
Direct legal assistance has been provided in 3,392 cases through the Supreme Court Legal Aid. Of these, 2,332 cases have been resolved.
The National Legal Aid Services Organization, under the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, manages these activities.
These services are being provided at government expense under the "Legal Aid Services Act" to provide legal assistance to financially insolvent and underprivileged litigants.
