DHAKA, May 5, 2026 (BSS) – A court here today placed two personal staffs of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s former Defence and Security Adviser Major General (Retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique on a three-day fresh remand each in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The two remanded accused are Tarique’s driver Md Mohidul Islam and house caretaker Md Chan Miah.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Manjurul Islam passed the order as police produced the duo before the court, seeking a seven-day remand for each.

Police arrested Mohidul from Thakurgaon and Chan from the capital’s Bhashantek area on April 19. They had earlier been remanded three times in a case filed over the killing of trader Abdul Wadud during the July Mass Uprising.

Earlier on May 1, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dilruba Afroz Tithi placed them on a four-day remand each in the Anti-Terrorism Act case.

According to the case statement, leaders and activists of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League and Awami League brought out a flash procession in front of Rupayan Tower in the Bangla Motor area on September 12, 2025, chanting various anti-government and anti-state slogans. Police later filed the case under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
