Navy seizes drugs, foreign weapons worth Tk 30 crore in Teknaf

 

CHATTOGRAM, May 4, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Navy seized a large quantity of drugs and foreign weapons worth approximately Tk 30 crore during a special drive in Teknaf early today.

According to a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the seizure was made following intelligence information during a search operation at a brick kiln in the Alikhali area of Hnila Union under Teknaf Upazila.

During the drive, navy personnel recovered 5 kg of crystal meth (ice) and around 1 lakh yaba tablets hidden underground. They also seized two foreign pistols, two magazines and four rounds of ammunition.

One suspect, Narul Kabir -- who is accused in multiple cases -- was arrested in connection with the incident.

The recovered drugs, weapons, and the detainee have been handed over to Teknaf Police Station for further legal action.

The Navy said its operation against drug trafficking and arms smuggling in coastal and maritime areas will continue.
