JCD exhibits documentary on alleged torture of DU students

DHAKA, May 4, 2026 (BSS) - The Dhaka University (DU) chapter of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has organized a documentary exhibition highlighting alleged incidents of torture on general students at Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Huq hall during the fallen fascist Awami League regime.

The exhibition, titled "Various Evidence of Hidden Shibir's Hypocrisy," was displayed on posters at the hall's guest room last night.

According to JCD, the materials depict how certain current leaders and activists of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir had previously operated as activists of banned Bangladesh Chhatra League and were involved in acts of repression against general students.

Those named in the exhibition include Zahurul Haq Hall unit cultural secretary Mohammad Ismail Sadik Tahsin, hall unit Shibir secretary Mahmudul Hasan, Araf Mahmud, Md Hasan Al Banna, Mustakim Rahman, and hall union executive member Tasnim Rubaiyat.

JCD claimed that although they were once active in Chhatra League, they are now involved in Shibir politics.

The initiative was led by Zahurul Haq Hall JCD senior joint convener Shamsul Haq Anan and joint convener Omar Abdullah Chowdhury Jinnah.

Members of the convening committee, including Takibur Rahman, Zahidul Islam Mahin and Hasibul Alam Tahin, extended overall support. Several activists also took part in the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Anan said, "Hidden Shibir activists used to remain embedded within Chhatra League, occupying guest rooms and carrying out repression on general students to establish themselves as 'pure' Chhatra League members."
