DHAKA, May 4, 2026 (BSS) — The Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) observed International Firefighters’ Day with a formal darbar and award ceremony at its headquarters today.
Speaking on the occasion, Brigadier General Muhammad Jahed Kamal, Director General (DG), Fire Service and Civil Defence Directorate urged all personnel to work collectively to build a transparent, accountable, and service-oriented institution.
He paid tribute to firefighters worldwide and offered prayers for those who have died in the line of duty.
Highlighting ongoing reforms, the DG outlined development initiatives and sought cooperation for the nationwide rollout of the e-fire license from May 1.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring transparency in upcoming recruitment processes.
Expressing satisfaction with recent operational responses, he thanked officers and staff for their dedication and called for continued efforts to uphold the organisation’s reputation.
In the second phase of the programme, 80 officers and employees from across the country were honoured for bravery and professional excellence, including 10 from Dhaka Division.
Additionally, 73 children of personnel who achieved GPA-5 in the 2025 SSC and HSC examinations received educational awards, with 17 from Dhaka Division.
Senior officials, project directors, and staff attended the event in person, while divisional and district officers joined virtually.
