CHATTOGRAM, May 2, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Land and Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin today called for responsible journalism anchored in truth, urging the media to present reality with courage and integrity.

"News should be responsible, steadfast to truth, and reflect reality in a fearless voice," he said while addressing a programme marking the 35th anniversary programme of The Daily Star at Hotel Agrabad in Chattogram tonight.

Earlier in the afternoon, the state minister also attended the Chattogram divisional event of 'Notun Kuri Sports-2026' as the chief guest at MA Aziz Stadium, which was held simultaneously across the country.

The nationwide inauguration of 'Notun Kuri Sports-2026' was announced from Sylhet by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

Chattogram city BNP convener and Lawmaker Ershad Ullah, Member of Parliament Abu Sufian, and Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Dr Shahadat Hossain were present at the event.
