Ex-DGFI director Afzal Naser put on fresh remand in Hasan killing case

DHAKA, April 27, 2026 (BSS)- A court here today placed former DGFI director and dismissed Lt Col. Afzal Naser on a fresh two-day remand in Mahmudul Hasan murder case. 

Mahmudul Hasan was killed at Uttara area during the July Uprising in 2024.


Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain passed the order as police produced him before the court after completion of his four-day remand and prayed for a further seven-day remand.

Earlier, the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sefatullah on April 23 had placed Naser on a four-day remand for the first time in the case.

A team of the Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Afzal Naser from his residence in Mirpur DOHS on March 30, 2026.

According to the case documents, Mahmudul Hasan received bullet injuries during a procession of the student on August 5, 2024 at Azampur area of Uttara. He died after taking to Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Hospital.
The murder case was filed on September 26, 2024, with Uttara East Police Station.
