FARIDPUR, April 25, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Foreign Affairs and lawmaker for Faridpur-2 Shama Obaed Islam today said full transparency and accountability will be ensured in all canal excavation and development activities in her constituency.

"We will ensure cent percent accountability in canal excavation and all development projects. No irregularity will be accepted," she said while inaugurating a canal excavation programme in Nagarkanda upazila.

The project covers Monoharpur to Choushara in Laskardia Union and Senhati Mokka Mosque to the river confluence in Saltha upazila.

The State Minister said she has taken personal responsibility to ensure transparent implementation of all public-interest projects. 

"Action will be taken regardless of political affiliation if corruption is found," she added.

Earlier, she attended an anti-drug and anti-terrorism meeting at Nagarkanda Police Station and called for greater public awareness. 

Later, she distributed free hand-spray machines among farmers in a programme organized by the upazila agriculture office.

Officials including the Zila Parishad Administrator, police superintendent and upazila officials were present.
