JCD held wall writing programme at DU protesting Shibir's attacks on students

DHAKA, April 23, 2026 (BSS) - Leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra
Dal (JCD) today carried out a wall writing programme on Dhaka University
campus protesting the attack on students, including JCD leaders and
activists, at Chattogram City College for making wall writing against "Gupto"
(covert) politics.

The programme was held at Salimullah Muslim Hall on the campus under the
leadership of Md. Tariqul Islam Tariq, central joint general secretary of JCD
and former general secretary of the hall unit.

Leaders and activists of JCD various units including DU, its hall, Shahjalal
University of Science and Technology; Jagannath University, Dhaka
metropolitan north, south, east and west, Tejgaon College and private
university were present, among others.

During the programme, the JCD leaders demanded exemplary punishment for those
involved in the attack at Chattogram City College.

They said there should be no place for any form of "covert politics" or
unethical political activities in educational institutions across the
country.

Whenever someone speaks out against such practices, they are attacked, they
said.

As part of a central programme protesting the Chattogram City College
incident and demanding the safety of students, they carried out this
campaign.

When asked, Tariq said JCD respects all opinions. However, a certain
political group is emerging under hidden identities while holding different
political positions and is often involved in various misconduct, he said.

He said it is unethical to be affiliated with multiple organizations at the
same time. Those who want to engage in healthy politics should work under
their own party banner-this, he said, is the beauty of democratic politics.

He further stated that the programme was carried out to condemn the attack by
Islami Chhatra Shibir in Chattogram and to resist political conspiracies
being carried out behind the scenes.

Just as public opinion was shaped through wall-writing during the mass
uprising of the 1990s, today's student community is similarly standing up
against covert politics.

In this new Bangladesh following the mass uprising, no form of covert
politics will be tolerated, he said.

He called upon all student organizations to present their ideals openly and
engage in transparent political practices.
