JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, April 22, 2026 (BSS) - Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) of Jahangirnagar University unit staged a protest procession on campus last night condemning an alleged attack on general students and JCD activists by Islami Chhatra Shibir activists at Chattogram City College.

The procession began around 10:00 pm from Rabindranath Chattar and moved through key campus roads before concluding with a brief rally in front of Shaheed Salam Barkat Hall. 

Over 100 leaders and activists, including Member Secretary Wasim Ahmed Anik, took part in the programme.

During the march, participants raised slogans denouncing violence in educational institutions.

At the rally, JU JCD Convener Jahir Uddin Mohammad Babar said that after the recent election, the organisation had been maintaining student-friendly and co-existence-based politics across universities. 

However, he alleged that Islami Chhatra Shibir had misinterpreted this approach as weakness and had resorted to violence in different parts of the country.

He further said that JCD remained committed to protecting students' rights and ensuring a safe campus environment. He warned that if Islami Chhatra Shibir did not stop covert political activities and return to co-existence, JCD would be compelled to take strict measures.
