TANGAIL, April 20, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku today inaugurated Measles-Rubella vaccination programme at Tangail town's Poura Udyan.
A special measles-rubella vaccination program has begun in 12 upazilas of the district.
After inaugurating the vaccination campaign, the State Minister told journalists that the previous government was irresponsible regarding the measles vaccine. “Because they failed to arrange for the timely import of vaccines, children's health risks reached an extremely alarming state,” he added.
He further said that following the directives of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the current government has successfully managed to deliver measles vaccines across the country.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Sharifa Haque, Civil Surgeon Dr. A.F.M. Mahbubul Alam Manju, Police Superintendent Shamsul Alam Sarkar, and Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Shahin Mia were present.
According to the District Health Department, under this program, 387,369 children aged 6 months to 5 years across 390 wards in 12 upazilas of the district will receive the measles-rubella vaccine. This campaign will continue until May 10.
