Tuku seeks UK investment to develop fisheries, livestock sector

DHAKA, April 19, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku today sought investment from the United Kingdom (UK) to develop the country’s fisheries and livestock sector.

He made the call when Councilor Shibley Alam, Civic Mayor of Tameside Council of Manchester in England, met him at his Secretariat office here.

During the meeting, Tuku said investment and trade cooperation between Bangladesh and the UK will reach a new height through joint initiatives and coordinated efforts.
 
He said relations between two countries have been consolidated on the basis of long-standing partnership, brotherhood and mutual understanding. 

To further strengthen the relations, he called upon the UK investors to increase investment in Bangladesh.

Civic Mayor of Manchester Shibley Alam highlighted various problems faced by businessmen in investing in Bangladesh.
 
The state minister assured of resolving of the existing problems in this regard.
 
They also discussed organising a meeting of the Joint Working Group to further expand economic and trade relations between the two countries.

They, however, put emphasis on further bolstering bilateral trade, economic development and investment in the days to come.
