DHAKA, April 16, 2026(BSS) - The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has unearthed the mystery of a four year’s back clueless murder of Tangail and nabbed four accused and two of them have already confessed their guilt before the court.  

Md Hafizur Rahman, Acting Superintendent of Police of PBI Tangail told BSS today that a team of the PBI district unit after a detailed investigation arrested four accused of the murder so far and unearthed the mystery of the sensational killing of auto-rickshaw driver Golam Rabbi murder.   

He said based on the information technology and intelligence, they first arrested accused Ibrahim Hossain Tutul (30) and Rubel Hossain (35) from Tangail district. 

During the preliminary interrogation, they confessed their involvement to the PBI and later gave confessional statements before the court under section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). 

Later, on the basis of the statements of Tutul and Rubel, PBI arrested another accused Zubayer Hossain Parvez from the Tamai area under Belkuchi Police Station in Sirajganj district on April 13. 

They also earlier arrested one Md Isha (25) from Madhupur area of the district for his alleged involvement in the killing.

The arrested accused Zubayer Hossain Parvez is currently being interrogated under remand. Efforts are ongoing to arrest other absconding accused involved in the case. The investigation of the case is still ongoing.

The PBI SP said that the arrested persons with the help of their other accomplices in a pre-planned manner murdered the auto-driver on December 21 in 2021 at Mirzapur area of the district. 

They took the victim to a secluded place, tied his hands and feet, slit his throat, killed him, left the body at the scene and fled with the stolen auto-rickshaw.

The locals later recovered the victim’s body from muddy water in a ditch in Bhatgram. Later, the victim’s father filed a case at Mirzapur Police Station on December 22 under sections 394/302 of the Penal Code.

The PBI Tangail took over the investigation on June 6, 2022. Currently, PBI Inspector Md. Rafiqul Islam is conducting the investigation into the case.
