DHAKA, April 15, 2026 (BSS) - Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanshyam
Bhandari on Wednesday underscored the growing relevance of wellness in a
world facing wars, economic inequality, social fragmentation and climate
crisis.

He made the remark when addressing global challenges as the Nepal Embassy
hosted a 'Wellness Walk' in Dhaka marking International Wellness Day under
the theme "Harmony with Mind, Body, and Nature".

The event featured a 45-minute walk, followed by a brief formal session and a
traditional Nepali wellness breakfast.

The envoy highlighted wellness practices as a living heritage deeply rooted
in Nepal's history, drawing on Hindu, Buddhist, yogic and indigenous
traditions that promote self-discipline, ethical living and harmony with
nature.

He also referred to Nepal's plan to observe 2027 as "Nepal Wellness Year",
aimed at promoting wellness tourism as a driver of sustainable economic
development and positioning the country as a global hub for wellness.

The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution on March 10, 2026
proclaiming April 15 as International Wellness Day, with Nepal as the
penholder and support from 143 member states.

Ambassadors, high commissioners, members of the diplomatic corps, government
officials, business and civil society leaders, representatives of the Nepali
community and media personnel attended the event.
