DHAKA, Apr 14, 2026 (BSS) – The Farmer Card distribution programme was virtually inaugurated in Nazirpur Upazila of Pirojpur this afternoon, with an initiative aimed at improving farmers’ livelihoods and building a modern, technology-driven agricultural system in Bangladesh.
The programme was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at Nazirpur Upazila Parishad auditorium.
As part of the event, the farmer cards were distributed to farmers in line with the election manifesto implementation of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
On the opening day, 15 farmers received their cards, while a total of 500 cards were distributed under the initiative.
According to the Upazila Agriculture Office, a total of 3,055 farmer cards are planned to be distributed in Nazirpur.
Speaking as the chief guest, State Minister for Housing and Public Works Ahammad Sohel Monzoor, MP, said the farmer card will play an important role in creating a centralized agricultural database.
He added that this system will help ensure future distribution of subsidies, incentives, and other agricultural support in a more organized way.
Monzoor also stressed the importance of protecting card security and warned that card images must not be shared on social media, especially Facebook.
The event was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Abu Sayeed and attended by local government officials, police administration representatives, BNP leaders including District BNP convener Nazrul Islam Khan and member secretary Saiful Islam Qasim, along with officials from various government and private departments.
The programmme was conducted by Nazirpur Upazila Executive Officer Amit Dutta.
