RAB recovers 5,876 liters of illegally hoarded edible oil

DHAKA, April 12, 2026(BSS) - The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has intensified its nationwide operations to prevent an artificial crisis in the edible oil market.

As part of the drive, RAB conducted eight mobile court drives across different parts of the country on April 11, uncovering a total of 5,876 liters of illegally hoarded edible oil, according to a RAB press release.

The drive also imposed fines of Tk 220,000 on multiple organizations involved in unlawful practices.

In Narayanganj's Rupganj area, mobile courts penalized five establishments in locations including Rupshi, Gangpar, Kazipara, Old Rail Station, and Pachdona for hoarding edible oil without authorization and operating without proper licenses.

Meanwhile, in the Feni Sadar area, inspections at several warehouses, including M/s Azad & Brothers, M/s Nasir Enterprise, and Bihari Bhoumik Enterprise, revealed violations such as expired licenses, unhygienic storage conditions, and illegal stockpiling of edible oil in drums

Authorities issued warnings and instructed the businesses to ensure proper sanitation and compliance with regulations.

RAB officials stated that intelligence surveillance has been strengthened to identify dishonest traders involved in creating market instability through hoarding and black-market activities.

Regular drives, mobile courts, and enforcement operations will continue to ensure a stable supply of essential commodities.

The elite force reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order and taking strict action against those engaged in illegal activities affecting the country's economy and public welfare.
