DHAKA, April 7, 2026 (BSS) - The Coast Guard has detained four smugglers along with a large quantity of cement while being smuggled to Myanmar from the outer anchorage of Chattogram.
The information was disclosed in a press release signed by Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon today.
On information, a team from the Coast Guard Outpost Patenga conducted an operation in the outer anchorage area of Chattogram at around 6:00 am. During the operation, the team detained four smugglers along with 550 sacks of cement worth approximately Tk 275,000 while they were transferring the cement from a cargo boat to a fishing boat with the intention of smuggling it to Myanmar by evading customs duties and taxes, said the press release.
The seized cement, fishing and cargo boats and the detained smugglers are currently under process for further legal action.
