DHAKA, Apr 5, 2026 (BSS) - Director General of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Additional IGP Md. Ahsan Habib Palash, has expressed optimism that the elite force will continue to operate more vigorously in the future to uphold the rule of law, protect human rights, ensure public safety, prevent crime, and bring offenders to justice.
He made these remark while exchanging views with journalists at the RAB Media Center in Kawran Bazar today, highlighting RAB’s significant operational successes in recent months.
He noted that since its inception, RAB has played a leading role in combating crime, including arresting murderers, extortionists, armed terrorists, robbers, kidnappers, fraudsters, and other notorious criminals, as well as recovering large quantities of illegal arms, ammunition, and narcotics.
Providing a breakdown of recent achievements, the DG said that in the past three months, RAB conducted multiple arms-related operations, arresting 104 individuals and recovering 331 weapons.
Notable drives were carried out in Chapainawabganj (February 8), Sirajganj’s Salanga area (March 9), Munshiganj’s Srinagar (March 10), and Rupnagar in the capital (March 27).
He also referred to a tragic incident in Chittagong’s Sitakunda, where RAB member DAD Motaleb Hossain was killed during an anti-terror operation in Salimpur hills.
A case was filed against 29 individuals, and a subsequent joint operation by RAB and police on March 9 led to the arrest of 20 suspects.
In efforts to tackle serious crimes, the DG stated that 484 individuals were arrested in murder cases over the last 90 days, including key operations in Jhenaidah (March 8) and Madaripur (March 21).
Additionally, RAB arrested 175 accused in rape cases, 61 kidnappers, 106 robbers, 26 human traffickers, and 3,473 individuals in pornography-related cases. Anti-narcotics drives resulted in the arrests of 1,115 accused.
Overall, from January to March 2026, RAB brought approximately 3,500 individuals involved in various criminal activities under the law.
The DG emphasized that RAB will continue its intelligence-driven operations and coordinated efforts with other law enforcement agencies to ensure peace and security across the country.
He also responded to various questions from journalists during the session, reaffirming the force’s commitment to professionalism and accountability.
