DHAKA, Mar 28, 2026 (BSS)- State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr MA Muhit has warned private medical colleges of taking strict action against any irregularities.
"We must also shut down the factories producing fake doctors, just like fake clinics and fake nurses," he said while reviewing the files of private medical college at his secretariat office today, ministry sources said.
The State Minister arrived at the ministry on weekly holiday to review the files of private medical colleges.
Seeking public to support to this drive, the state minister said, "We will continue this fight in the public interest. With your support, we will surely be successful and protect public health.”
He said, some medical colleges that are not paying any heed to rules and regulations. Despite years of warnings, they are operating like business enterprises rather than educational institutions.
Many colleges do not have their own land, nor do they even have submitted necessary documents. Several institutions are running without approval from the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC), he added.
Stating that every private medical college must maintain a minimum standard, he said adding that “No institution will be allowed to operate without any hospital building, adequate manpower and patients."
