KHULNA, March 14, 2026 (BSS) - Administrator of Khulna City Corporation and BNP leader Nazrul Islam Manju today said the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) aims to build a welfare-oriented state to fulfil the aspirations of the 2024 July Uprising in a new Bangladesh free from fascism.

He said the party's main objective now is to bring smiles to the faces of the people by upholding their trust and confidence.

Manju made the remarks as the chief guest while addressing a large iftar and prayer gathering organized by the Khulna city unit of BNP at the district outer stadium in Khulna on Saturday, marking the holy month of Ramadan.

The programme was presided over by Khulna city BNP President Advocate Shafiqul Alam Mona and moderated by its General Secretary Shafiqul Alam Tuhin. Prominent citizens, political leaders, administrative officials, journalists and thousands of party leaders and activists attended the event.

Paying deep respect to the leaders and activists who played key roles in the July-August democratic and anti-autocracy movement, Manju also expressed sympathy for the families of those who were martyred and those who faced repression through false cases.

Highlighting the political philosophy and objectives of BNP, he said the party is not only a democratic political organisation but also a party closely connected with the people and a symbol of their trust and confidence.

Urging party leaders and activists to act more responsibly, the KCC administrator said the main goal in the new journey of a fascism-free Bangladesh is to realize the dreams of the July-August mass uprising of students and the people.

Among others, Amir Ejaz Khan, MP for Khulna-1; Jahangir Hossain Helal, MP for Khulna-2 and city secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami; former city BNP General Secretary and freedom fighter Moniruzzaman Moni; Khulna University Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Harun-or-Rashid Khan; district BNP Convener Moniruzzaman Montu; Member Secretary Sheikh Abu Hossain Babu and Senior Joint Convener Advocate Momrezul also spoke.
