GAIBANDHA, Feb 21, 2026 (BSS) - Newly elected BNP lawmaker from Gaibandha-4 constituency (Gobindaganj upazila), Shamim Kaisar Lincoln, today warned that those who attempt to destroy communal harmony in the country will not be spared.
"No one can belittle people of other religions. This country belongs to everyone. There is no room for discrimination on the basis of religion," he said.
The lawmaker made the remarks while exchanging views with members of the Hindu community after visiting the under-construction Sree Sree Radha Gobinda Kali Mondir at Ramchandrapur village under Hossainpur union in Palashbari upazila of the district on Friday evening as the chief guest.
He said the religious structure, being built at the initiative of Horidas Babu, would be used for religious purposes and stressed that ensuring its safety and preservation is a collective responsibility.
Later, the MP toured different parts of the temple premises and inquired about the progress of the construction work.
Temple founder Horidas Babu briefed the lawmaker on the design and overall plan of the structure and thanked him for visiting the site. Lincoln assured him of necessary support for the overall development of the temple.
Upazila BNP Convener Faruk Kabir Ahmed and Convener of Upazila Hindu-Bouddha-Christian Kalyan Front Debashish Kumar Kazol Chaki, among others, accompanied the lawmaker during the visit.
