DHAKA, Feb 5, 2026 (BSS) - Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud, Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (Ansar-VDP), has stressed that ensuring a transparent, impartial and acceptable election, free from the influence of negative forces, is not only a responsibility but a sacred trust.

"As a symbol of deep love for the homeland, commitment to the country, and trust of the people, the Ansar-VDP will continue to uphold this national duty, as it has in the past," he said.

The DG made these remarks while speaking at the Ansar-VDP's preparatory rally for the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election and referendum at Tangail District Stadium today.

The Director General highlighted that ongoing preparations by the force aim to strengthen a professional, democracy-friendly electoral system. He emphasized the importance of unity, effective communication, and collective strength among members to prevent irregularities and maintain professionalism during the election process.

"The foundation of a free and fair election lies in performing state duties with discipline, integrity, and commitment, following proper training principles," he said.

He noted that the preparatory rallies are designed to enhance coordination, awareness, and unity among members assigned to election duties.

Acknowledging the challenges of national elections, the DG said that careful planning and a strong sense of responsibility are crucial for overcoming them.

He added that the combined strength of the 13 Ansar and VDP members stationed at each polling booth would serve as a deterrent against any irregularities or aggression.

Recalling the formation of the Ansar-VDP in 1948, he reiterated that the force has always worked closely with the people of Bangladesh. "Today, people across the country have high expectations from our members," he said.

He also underscored the significance of safeguarding personal equipment, wearing proper uniforms, ensuring adequate food arrangements, and maintaining discipline while on duty.

"Each member must represent the force with dignity," he said, adding that these efforts would boost public confidence in the safe and peaceful conduct of the elections.

The rally was simultaneously broadcast to Rajshahi, Naogaon, and Mymensingh districts via giant screens, allowing Ansar and VDP members in those areas to receive the Director General's guidance in real time.
