Perform duties with sincerity on poll day: Salam urges party workers

DHAKA, Feb 05, 2026 (BSS)- Adviser to the BNP Chairman and chief coordinator of the BNP's election management committee for Dhaka-17 constituency Bir Muktijoddha Abdus Salam today called upon the leaders and workers assigned to election duties for Dhaka-17 constituency to perform their duties with utmost sincerity on February 12. 

“Results of the struggle for voting rights for the last 17 years will depend on the performance of the field level workers on February 12,” he said.
Abdus Salam made the remarks while addressing a training session at the party’s election office of Dhaka-17 constituency in Banani of the city.

Abdus Salam said many leaders and workers have suffered imprisonment and various forms of persecution for this vote. 

“To reap the rewards of those sacrifices, no negligence is expected in the preparatory arrangement and on the election day,” he said. 

He said everyone working in the field as a representative of Tarique Rahman and must work with that sense of responsibility.

Emphasizing booth-based preparations, he said, It is essential to divide the voter list according to centers and visit each house to identify voters. This will help challenge any attempt to cast votes in the name of deceased persons or manipulate the votes of absent voters.

Instructing that polling booths must not be left empty under any circumstances on the poll day, Abdus Salam said if an assigned person needs to go outside, they must hand over responsibility to another person.

Urging to the party workers to utilize the remaining time for public contact, he said constant communication must be maintained with the voters and a clear understanding about them must be kept.

Thanking the leaders and workers who participated in the training, Abdus Salam said, “If the provided training is implemented in the field, then, InshaAllah, achieving the desired result will be possible.”
