DHAKA, Feb 3, 2026 (BSS) - Chief Coordinator of the BNP’s election steering committee for Dhaka-17 constituency Abdus Salam today said BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman will provide free WiFi to students, if the party got elected in the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad polls slated for February 12.
“In his election pledge, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has promised to bring all kinds of facilities including free WiFi across the country to the fingertips of students,” he said.
Abdus Salam, also a valiant freedom fighter revealed this at the Digital Memorial Inauguration ceremony at Government Titumir College in the city.
A discussion was held between teachers, Chhatra Dal leaders, and general students of Titumir College, and leaders of the BNP's election steering committee for the Dhaka-17 constituency.
Abdus Salam said, “In the current digital era, the old analog system will not work...Through WiFi, you can stay connected with the entire world.”
In this connetion, he said students of our country can not avail all facilities related to education since they have been sufferening from financial crisis. But, they need to stay connected with the world.
“Keeping this in mind, Tarique Rahman has undertaken various service-oriented initiatives for students,” he added.
Mentioning that people from all walks of life can enjoy this WiFi facility, he said, “providing this WiFi service for students is not only for the Chhatra Dal. Students of all religions and backgrounds will be able to use it. Through this, students will have information at their fingertips”.
“You can get admission to universities around the world. It will also become easier to get jobs both at home and abroad,” he added.
Abdus Salam revealed that in this election, 30% of voters are students and young people.
“You will foster a trend of clean politics among students. Never engage in unfair politics and resist those who practice criminal politics. The Chhatra league has been exhausted by engaging in unfair politics. Neither ordinary students nor the general public have accepted their politics,” he added.
The BNP leader said that the party believes in the coexistence of all religions and there is no differing opinion on co-education for men and women either.
With Titumir College unit Chhatra Dal Convener Imam Hossain in the chair, the joint coordinator of Dhaka-17 election activities Dr. Farhad Halim Donor, agriculturist Shamim Rahman Shamim, college Principal Dr. Professor Sadruddin Ahmed, Professor Alea Akhtar, Professor Atiqur Rahman and Professor Maniruzzaman were present at the event.
