AB Party asks EC to ensure congenial election ambience

DHAKA, Feb 2, 2026 (BSS) - Amar Bangladesh (AB) Party has called upon the Election Commission (EC) to ensure a congenial election environment so that voters can vote for their preferred candidates without any fear in the upcoming 13th national polls.

AB Party General Secretary Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad made the call at a press conference at the party's central office here.

Barrister Fuad said the aspiration of the 2024 mass uprising was to establish a new settlement in politics but those, who believe in the old political system, are trying to halt the political development of the new one by clinging to the old system.

Alleging that there is a lack of level playing field in the election field, he said there is no visible and effective role in controlling the law and order situation.

The AB Party leader said: "The case trade is going on. By filing cases, some people are luring voters that if they vote a certain symbol, their cases will be withdrawn. In this situation, it is the responsibility of the EC to ensure such an environment where the people can vote for their preferred candidate without fear."

Fuad said some people are denying the unanimous decisions made in the Consensus Commission within a short period of time and are saying that they will not accept the July Charter, which is sad.

Although the grassroots level officials of the administration are keen to ensure fair elections, it is not being implemented for lack of necessary instructions, he said.

He said the activities of the striking force are not visible, those involved in electoral terrorism are not being held and the necessary security forces have not been deployed in remote areas.

He termed the hacking of the “X” account of the Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer as ‘shameful and undesirable’ one.

Fuad asked the EC to take effective steps to arrest the arms holders and extortionists for a fair and acceptable election.

He said they want to see the upcoming elections to be a joyful and acceptable one.

Addressing the government officials, he said the incident of imprisonment of former CECs, IGPs and secretaries should be remembered – July is not the last revolution, the young generation is still alert.

AB Party Joint General Secretaries Advocate Abdullah Al Mamun Rana and Md Altaf Hossain, AB Party Dhaka South City convener Abdul Halim Khokon, Dhaka North City convener Selim Khan, Public Transport Affairs Secretary Advocate Matiar Rahman, Social Welfare Secretary Abu Helal, Joint Organising Secretary Shajahan Bepari and Dhaka South City Member Secretary Barkaz Nasir Ahmed were among other, present at the press conference.
