KHULNA, Feb 1, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman will present a clear and time-bound development blueprint prioritizing the overall progress of the country’s southern region at a major election rally in Khulna tomorrow.

The development plan will focus on economic revitalization of the region, including promotion of tourism centring the Sundarbans, construction of sustainable embankments to protect lives and property in coastal areas, creation of employment opportunities for unemployed youths, reopening of long-closed mills and factories, ensuring gas connections in Khulna, and establishment of new economic zones, according to Khulna BNP leaders.

The information was disclosed at a press briefing held at a city hotel on Sunday afternoon by BNP National Executive Committee’s Student Affairs Secretary and BNP candidate for Khulna-3 constituency Rakibul Islam Bakkul.

He said BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman is scheduled to arrive in Khulna on Monday. 

A massive election rally will be held at Probhati School ground in Khalishpur at 11.00 am with participation of party leaders, activists and supporters, where Tarique Rahman will address the gathering as the chief guest.

Rakibul Islam Bakkul said the rally has generated widespread enthusiasm among BNP leaders and activists across Khulna and the greater south-western region. 

 Preparations including stage construction, security arrangements, maintenance of discipline and smooth management of public gathering are almost complete, he added. 

A large turnout from neighbouring districts and upazilas is also expected.

Addressing the press briefing, BNP National Executive Committee’s Information Secretary and BNP candidate for Khulna-4 constituency, Azizul Bari Helal, said employment generation, planned industrialisation, modern infrastructure development and environment-friendly utilisation of natural resources are essential to improve the living standards of people in the Khulna region.

He expressed optimism that implementation of the development blueprint to be announced by Tarique Rahman would make the southern region economically self-reliant and open new horizons of hope for its people.

BNP candidate for Khulna-2 constituency, Nazrul Islam Manju, said the Probhati School ground rally would not merely be an election gathering, but a significant milestone in shaping the political and economic future of Khulna and the south-western region.

Among others, BNP National Executive Committee’s Assistant Organising Secretary Babu Jayanta Kumar Kundu, Khulna City BNP President Advocate Shafiqul Alam Mona, former Khulna mayor Moniruzzaman Moni, Khulna District BNP Convener Moniruzzaman Montu, City BNP General Secretary Shafiqul Alam Tuhin, District BNP Acting Member Secretary Monirul Hasan Bappi and senior leaders of BNP and its associate bodies were present at the press briefing.
