DHAKA, Jan 12, 2026 (BSS) - Nagorik Oikya President and BNP-nominated MP candidate Mahmudur Rahman Manna met BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman this evening.

The meeting took place at BNP's political office in Gulshan.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Manna said discussions were held on ensuring a free, fair and acceptable election. He noted that the Election Commission has been advised to take further steps to improve the law and order situation ahead of the polls.

He stressed that maintaining a normal and peaceful environment during the election period is extremely important.

Regarding his candidacy, Manna said no final decision has yet been made about the constituency from which he will contest in the upcoming national election. He added that he would contest from whichever seat is allocated to him through seat-sharing negotiations.

Earlier, Mahmudur Rahman Manna submitted nomination papers as a Nagorik Oikya candidate for the Bogura-2 (Shibganj) and Dhaka-18 constituencies. However, it is yet to be finalised which constituency he will contest in the election.
