CNG-Motorbike collision on Mouchak flyover kills two

DHAKA, Jan 1, 2026 (BSS) - Two people were killed in a head-on collision between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a motorbike on the capital's Mouchak flyover early Thursday morning.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Nayan Talukder (70), a CNG driver, and Mohammad Yasin Arafat (21), the motorbike rider.

According to police, the accident occurred around 5:00am on January 1. 

Passersby rescued the injured victims and rushed them to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where the on-duty doctor declared both dead at around 6:15am.

Inspector-in-Charge of the DMCH police camp, Mohammad Faruk, said the bodies have been kept at the morgue of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. 

The incident has been reported to the concerned police station for further legal proceedings, he said.

Nayan Talukder, a resident of the Dhalpur area in Jatrabari, was the son of Ramez Talukder. 

Motorbike rider Yasin Arafat lived at 141 South Mugda and was the son of Zahirul Islam.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
