CHATTOGRAM, Dec 29, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee member and Chattogram-11 (Bandar-Patenga) candidate Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said the people of Bangladesh have a single aspiration—the restoration of democracy.
Highlighting the party’s role in restoring democracy, he said the people have reclaimed ownership of the democratic process.
“We are on the path to restoring democratic order, and this joy is shared by all. This day is significant for everyone,” he told journalists after submitting his nomination paper at the Chattogram Regional Election Officer’s office around 1:45pm today.
The BNP leader emphasized the sacrifices made by the people over the past 17 years mentioning those who lost their lives, disappeared, faced false cases, and job losses.
He highlighted that these sacrifices have led to the restoration of our voting rights. The people of Bangladesh are eagerly waiting to exercise their voting rights, elect representatives, and establish a government through democratic means."
Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury was elected as a Member of Parliament for the first time in 1991 from the Chattogram-8 constituency on the BNP's nomination. He served as the Minister of Commerce from 2001 to 2004. Currently, he is a member of the BNP's 'Standing Committee.'
Chattogram has a total of 16 parliamentary constituencies covering 15 upazilas and 34 thana areas. Nomination forms distribution began after the schedule was announced on December 11, with today being the last day to submit nomination papers.
