DHAKA, Dec 29, 2025 (BSS) – The government has renamed the Directorate of Seamen & Emigration Welfare as the Directorate of Seafarers Welfare.

The decision was taken in line with a resolution of the Secretary Committee on Administrative Development on September 10 this year, according to a gazette notification issued here recently by the Ministry of Shipping.

As per the decision, the Bangla name of the organisation has been changed to “Nabik Kallyan Odhidoptor” while its English name has been finalised as “Directorate of Seafarers Welfare”.
