DHAKA, Dec 28, 2025 (BSS) - Tajnuva Jabeen, Joint Convener of NationalCitizen Party (NCP) , today resigned and announced that she will not contest the upcoming national parliamentary election.

In a Facebook post, Tajnuva said her resignation was prompted by a loss of trust and disagreement over the process through which the party's electoral alliance was finalised ahead of the polls.

She alleged that although nominations were initially invited nationwide, later seat-sharing decisions restricted candidates from contesting independently, leaving many without the opportunity to run in the election.

Rejecting reports that she opposed the alliance out of fear of losing her nomination, Tajnuva said she had earlier stated she would not contest if negotiations were held without transparency.

A founding member of the party, she said she had joined NCP to promote a centrist, inclusive and accountable political platform but felt those principles were undermined by internal political manoeuvring.

Tajnuva said she has resigned from all party posts and will not take part in the general election. She also pledged to return all donations received for
her campaign.

Despite stepping away from the party, she said she would continue to work fordemocratic change and political reform in the country.
