JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Dec 26, 2025 (BSS) - Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit of the Nationalist Teachers' Forum today accorded a reception to BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman in front of the university's main entrance as he was on his way to pay tribute at the National Memorial in Savar.

The bus which was carrying Tarique Rahman arrived near the main entrance of the university around 9:45 pm.

Teachers along with members of Jatiyatabadi Shikkhok-Kormokorta-Komrochari Oikya Forum gathered in large numbers from the afternoon, lining the road near the main entrance to have a glimpse of their leader.

Talking to the BSS, President of the JU unit of the Nationalist Teachers' Forum Professor Dr Md Shamsul Alam said Tarique Rahman's return to the country after years of political persecution is a highly significant moment for the nation.

"Tarique Rahman's return has emerged as a ray of hope for the people amid the ongoing political, economic and social crises of the country," he said.

He added that the massive public response witnessed across Dhaka and other parts of the country proves that the Zia family and the BNP still hold an important place in national politics.

"The people believe that under the leadership of Tarique Rahman, Bangladesh will move forward towards a democratic and prosperous future," Dr Shamsul Alam said.

Nationalist Teachers' Forum conveyed greetings and congratulations to Tarique Rahman and expressed its firm commitment to uphold his ideals and programmes, he added.
