Street Mime Council’s biennial conference begins tomorrow

DHAKA, Dec 18, 2025 (BSS) – The two-day biennial national conference of the Bangladesh Street Mime Council will begin tomorrow (Friday) at the seminar room of the National Theatre Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy here.

On the occasion, two seminars titled “Mime of Awakening in the Spirit of Liberation” will be held over the two days.

Md Kamrul Hasan Khan will present a paper titled “July Uprising: Cultural Activists and Mime Artists in the Aftermath”, while Asabir Rafsan will present a paper on “Potentials of Street Mime”.

More than 20 mime groups from different parts of the country will present their performances every afternoon during the festival.

Secretary of the Chief Adviser’s Office and Chairman of the National Skill Development Authority Dr Nazneen Kawshar Chowdhury will attend the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest.

Poet Reza Uddin Stalin, Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, will be present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony on December 20.

A council session will be held on the morning of the second day, during which a new executive committee of the council will be formed for the next two years.

International mime artist and organiser Rizwan Rajan will preside over the events of the conference.

Conference and Festival Committee Convener Asabir Rafsan and Member Secretary Ihtiaz Tawki urged all concerned to actively participate in the colourful event and make it a success.
