Jamaat Ameer mourns killing of 6 Bangladeshi peacekeepers in Sudan

DHAKA, Dec 14, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the killing of six Bangladeshi peacekeepers in a terrorist attack on a United Nations Peacekeeping Mission Base in Sudan.

In a statement issued here today, he conveyed condolences to the families of the deceased and injured persons.

The Jamaat Ameer said that on Saturday afternoon (local time), Bangladeshi peacekeepers came under a terrorist attack in the Abyei area of Sudan. As a result, six personnel were martyred and eight others were seriously injured, he added.

Dr. Shafiqur said attacks on peacekeepers are a heinous crime against humanity and strongly condemned the barbaric assault.
 
The nation feels proud as heroic people for the sacrifices made by Bangladeshi soldiers in establishing world peace, he continued.

The Jamaat Ameer noted that under the UN banner, the Bangladesh Army has been carrying out risky and challenging duties with dedication and bravery to establish peace in war-torn and conflict-prone regions across the world. 

He expressed firm belief that the Bangladesh Army will continue to play an important role in safeguarding the country's independence and sovereignty, alongside contributing to world peace in the future.

He prayed for the eternal peace of the martyrs' souls and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
 
He also called upon the Bangladesh government and the United Nations to ensure advanced medical treatment for the injured.
