DHAKA, Dec 12, 2025 (BSS) - Two university students were killed early today in a tragic road accident after their motorbike collided head-on with a Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) garbage truck in Konapara area of Demra.
The deceased were identified as Iram Redwan ,25, a student of Asian University of Bangladesh (AUB), and Apu Ahmed ,25, a third-year Honors student at United International University (UIU).
The accident occurred around 4:15 am while the two were returning home after attending a pre-wedding ceremony, police and local sources said.
Friends rushed to the scene after receiving information about the crash and found the two victims lying on the road.
They were immediately taken to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) emergency department, where the attending doctors declared them dead around 5 am today.
Tausif, a friend who brought the victims to the hospital, said, "They were heading home when their motorbike collided head-on with a Dhaka North City Corporation garbage truck in Demra's Konapara. When we reached the spot, both were lying on the road. We rescued them and took them to DMCH, but the doctors said they had already died."
Both students lived in the Chittagong Road area under Siddhirganj Police Station in Narayanganj district.
Following the incident, Demra police seized the city corporation's truck involved in the crash.
Inspector Mohammad Faruk, in charge of the DMCH police camp, confirmed that the bodies have been kept in the Dhaka Medical College morgue.
He also said that Demra police are investigating the incident.
