RANGPUR, Dec 9, 2025 (BSS) - The July uprising has opened up new possibilities for the young generation to build a merit-based, prosperous society—free from discrimination and corruption—in the evolving circumstances.
Corruption is widespread at every level of society. The young generation demonstrated remarkable courage during the July uprising, giving the nation genuine hope for changing mindsets and behaviors to eliminate corruption and inequality.
The observation came at a post-rally and post-human chain discussion held at the District Shilpokola Academy auditorium in observance of the International Anti Corruption Day-2025 today.
The district administration with District Combined Office of Anti Corruption Commission (ACC), District Corruption Prevention Committee (CPC), Transparency International Bangladesh and 'Sochetan Nagorik Samaj' organised programmes marking the day.
Divisional Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam inaugurated the programmes by hoisting the national flag and releasing balloons with a festoon on the city’s Public Library premises in the morning.
Later, a human chain was arranged at the same venue and a colorful rally was brought out marking the day.
With Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Enamul Ahsan in the chair, the Divisional Commissioner attended the event as the chief guest.
The chief guest said that observance of the International Anti-Corruption Day plays a very important role in developing moral values of the people and establishing honesty in society.
He said, “It is very important for us to be united in preventing corruption. If activities are taken to prevent corruption from the family and educational institutions, fairness, transparency and good governance will be ensured in the society.”
He called on all concerned to contribute to establishing a corruption-free society and good governance from their respective positions, motivated by patriotism.
The Deputy Commissioner said that corruption is a complex and multidimensional problem, which weakens administrative capacity and hinders development activities.
He expressed hope that the youth will further strengthen the administrative structure with honesty, morality and a sense of responsibility in the future.

Government officials, teachers, students, scouts, members of District CPC, civil society members and journalists were present at the event.
