DHAKA, Dec 2, 2025 (BSS) - The central committee of the Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Committee (Students' Rights Council) has been announced with Nazmul Hasan elected as President and Mohammad Sanaullah Haque as General Secretary.
The new committee was approved through a statement issued on Monday, signed by the council's advisers and Gana Odhikar Parishad leaders-President Nurul Haque Nur, General Secretary Md Rashed Khan and spokesperson Hasan Al Mamun.
The two other members of the committee are Senior Joint Vice-President Newaz Khan Bappi and Senior Joint General Secretary Rakibul Islam.
Speaking to BSS, newly elected President Nazmul Hasan said that if any organisation's leaders and activists took public leadership at universities, colleges, districts and metropolitan areas during the July-August mass uprising, it was the Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Committee.
He added that from the historic quota reform movement to every democratic movement and struggle, the organisation has been involved in protecting students' rights. "We will remain committed to transforming this organisation into the country's largest student platform by overcoming all crises, limitations and conspiracies," he said.
Nazmul Hasan, the newly elected central president of the committee, is a student of Dhaka College. He previously served as General Secretary of the central committee. Mohammad Sanaullah earlier served as the convener of the Dhaka University unit.
