JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Nov 30, 2025 (BSS) - Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit of the Nationalist Teachers-Officers-Employees Forum today organised a milad and special doa mahfil seeking the recovery of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

The programme was held after Zuhr prayers at the university's central mosque, where its Imam led a special munajat following the milad.

JU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan attended the event as the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Ahsan said Begum Zia is "not only a leader of a particular political party but a guardian figure for the entire nation" highlighting her longstanding role in safeguarding democracy.

He said the country is passing through a critical transitional period and a widely respected guardian figure like Begum Zia is "irreplaceable", that's why prayers were offered for her early recovery.

President of the JU Nationalist Teachers' Forum (NTF) Prof Shamsul Alam said the nationalist community at the university, regardless of political affiliation, joined the programme as Begum Zia remains in a critical condition.

Begum Zia has always been a blessing for the nation and played a vital role during difficult times, expressing hope for her swift recovery so she can guide the nation in the coming days, he added.

JU Pro-VC (Academic) Prof Dr M Mahfuzur Rahman, Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Dr Sohel Ahmed, Treasurer Prof Dr M Abdur Rab, Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences Prof Mafruhi Sattar, JU NTF General Secretary Prof Md
Jamal Uddin, and nearly a hundred of pro-BNP teachers, officers, employees and leaders of the JU unit of Chhatra Dal were present on the occasion.
