DU teachers' white panel holds doa mahfil seeking Khaleda Zia's recovery

DHAKA, Nov 29, 2025 (BSS) - A doa and milad mahfil was held today at Dhaka University (DU) seeking the speedy recovery of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

The event was organized by the DU White Panel, an association of pro-BNP teachers, at the university's central mosque after Asr prayers.

DU White Panel convener Prof Dr. Morshed Hasan Khan chaired the program while DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed Khan, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Prof Mamun Ahmed, DU White Panel joint conveners Prof Abdus Salam and Prof Abul Kalam Sarkar, National University Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Md. Lutfor Rahman, IBA Professor Dr. Md. Mohiuddin, DU Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof Dr. Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan, DU Proctor Associate Pro Saifuddin Ahmed, as well as teachers, students, and leaders of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal joined the event.

DU central mosque's Khatib Mawlana Mufti Nazir Ahmad conducted the prayers.

BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia is currently undergoing treatment in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of Evercare Hospital in the capital. A medical board comprising local and foreign specialist doctors is supervising her treatment.

Nearly 80-year-old Khaleda Zia has long been suffering from various physical complications. On November 23, she was quickly taken to the hospital after she experienced breathing difficulties.
