DHAKA, Nov 27, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Embassy in Kuwait has hosted a
reception to celebrate the 55th Armed Forces Day, highlighting the deep and
longstanding defence cooperation between Bangladesh and Kuwait.
The reception, held at the Al Taj Ballroom of Hotel Millennium in Kuwait City
on 26 November, was graced by the Guest of Honour Major General Feras Adel
Al-Shaheen, Assistant Chief of Staff for Administration and Manpower of the
Kuwait Armed Forces, said a press release here today.
Ambassadors, diplomats, defence attachés, civil society representatives,
members of the Bangladesh Military Contingent and Bangladeshi expatriates
attended the event in large numbers.
In his welcome remarks, Bangladesh Ambassador to Kuwait Major General Syed
Tareq Hussain paid solemn tribute to the heroic freedom fighters and martyrs
of the 1971 Liberation War, as well as to the students and citizens who
sacrificed their lives during the July-August 2024 Movement.
He highlighted the historic evolution and contributions of the Bangladesh
Armed Forces in safeguarding national sovereignty, supporting national
development and upholding Bangladesh's reputation as a leading contributor to
UN peacekeeping missions.
The Ambassador underscored the deep-rooted ties between Bangladesh and
Kuwait, noting that Kuwait was the first Gulf nation to recognise Bangladesh
in 1973.
Expressing gratitude to Kuwait for hosting nearly 290,000 Bangladeshi
nationals, including peacekeepers deployed since 1991, he said defence
cooperation continued to serve as a key pillar of the bilateral relationship.
Defence Attache‚ Brigadier General Rakib, in his remarks, recalled the
historical significance of Armed Forces Day, noting that coordinated
operations of the newly formed Army, Navy and Air Force beginning on 21
November 1971 accelerated the path to independence.
He paid tribute to Liberation War martyrs and reaffirmed the Armed Forces'
unwavering commitment to protecting Bangladesh's sovereignty and territorial
integrity.
He also emphasised the strong defence partnership between Bangladesh and
Kuwait, citing the technical and professional contributions of 11 Bangladesh
Military Contingents currently serving in Kuwait. He highlighted recent high-
level military exchanges and conveyed appreciation to the Chief of Staff of
the Kuwait Armed Forces for continued cooperation.
The event concluded with expressions of gratitude to all dignitaries and
members of the Bangladeshi community, reaffirming the enduring friendship and
defence partnership between Bangladesh and Kuwait.
