DHAKA, Nov 27, 2025 (BSS) - The Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) has arrested two accused in a case under the Pornography Control Act along with two smart phones from Rangpur city. 

The arrested have been identified as Md. Azam Ali (25), son of late Ansar Ali, a resident of College Road Bananipara, Alamnagar under Kotwali Police Station in Rangpur Metropolitan City, Md. Safayet Hossain (25), son of Md. Asaduzzaman, a resident of Sardarpara, Kellaband under Kotwali Thana, Rangpur Metropolitan. 

Azam is the mastermind of an organized fraud ring, who embezzled money by threatening to spread nude photos or videos on social media by establishing love relationships under the guise of women, has been arrested, said an ATU press release.

A smart team of ATU conducted an operation at College Road, Alamnagar, Bananipara area under Kotwali Police Station of Rangpur Metropolitan City around 10.10 pm on Wednesday, it also said. 

During the arrest, two smart phones were seized from their possessions.

The arrestees were accused in a case filed with Uttara Paschim Police Station of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) under sections-8(1)/8(2)/8(3) of the Pornography Control Act 2012 on November 16 last.

After collecting and analyzing intelligence information, a joint operation team in coordination with the Organized Crime Shakhawarangpur Divisional Office and ATU arrested the due.
