NETROKONA, April 3, 2026 (BSS)- Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Barrister Kayser Kamal today stressed the need to engage children in healthy cultural practices from an early age to keep them away from drugs and other social vices.

He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a certificate and prize distribution ceremony of Janata Cultural Academy at Kalmakanda upazila parishad hall room.

The Deputy Speaker announced that a modern Shilpakala Academy would be established in Kalmakanda.

He also called for avoiding extravagance while organizing any events, suggesting that money spent on costly bouquet of flowers could instead be used to purchase musical instruments for cultural organisations or to assist the underprivileged.

Recalling his childhood, he urged mothers to introduce children to local culture, rhymes and poetry early in life so that they grow up with strong moral values.

He also emphasized preserving indigenous traditions and avoiding harmful foreign cultural influences.

Referring to national ideals, he said the aim of the Liberation War was to achieve economic, cultural and democratic emancipation.

The function was chaired by Executive Director of Janata Cultural Academy Afroza Begum Shimu and attended by local administrative and political leaders, including Upazila Nirbahi Officer S.M. Mikail Islam.
